About food

We have used all trails to book our accommodation and they have booked what is called half pension. Our breakfast and dinner are supplied from a limited menu (mostly for us walkers and cyclists). We think there may be 50 to 100 people per day of our route, most walking.
This is one of the nicer breakfasts. They all have bread and yoghurt, orange juice and coffee. Most have croissant and cheese. There is jam to add to the natural yoghurt. The nicer one is raspberry, some only have strawberry.
The coffee is mostly expresso. Cafe Au Lait is a concession to foreigners. Asking for skim milk invites only confusion.
Lunch is on the road. This means it is what you carry or what farmer's supply of sometimes a small town cafe.
A bagette with cheese 🧀 and 🥬 is a staple as is a torte myrtille a 🫐 tarte.
Clare always carries an 🍎.

The evening meals have been an adventure. Sometimes we have 3 choices of an entre a main and a desert.
We rely on Google translate to avoid tripe, cabbage rolls, goats cheese and to choose a little adventure.
Aligot is a local speciality of the Aubrac area. Cheese, potatoes and garlicserved with gusto.
There has also been delicious mushroom dishes and lots of pork.
Cheese's (3) are served before desert. Usually a blue choose a soft cheese and a dry local cheese. One desert option was a soft cheese (almost yoghurt) with a berry puree on top. Wow!
These cheeses were brought around for us to select what we wanted.

Before desert!
